Sometimes… when you need a new outlook… you need to look out of a new pair of eyes. You may be thinking that you’re THE BOMB, but when neither you nor anyone else has seen your “fuse” for years that is clearly not the case. When you walk tall, but smell like big shit… know that it’s only a matter of time before some puts you in your place. And if that’s the case, you deserve what you got.
I had a moment today, when I sought advice from a colleague… and what she said to me was so much better than what I could have asked her for. She politely… and subtly put me in my motherfuckin place. I don’t know that she meant to do so, but I am so grateful that she said what she did, because it was exactly what I needed to hear. Sometimes when you really need to put things into perspective… you have to seek a perspective other than your own. As I sat there, reeling from the moment that transpired I realized that... getting knocked down, let me know that I aint at the top, but reminds me that I have a lot of work to do before I get there.
Perspective is a pesky thing… it’s your own, and no one can see yours, which can be a gift, or source of peril. Wisdom is granted, not taken - don’t take insight for granted - and use what you got to get where you’re supposed to be. HOLLA.
